The portico entrance behind the church is convenient to the parking garage on 6th Street and Capitol Avenue, as well as to the church parking lot and the Federal Government Court Complex spaces that are available to us on Sundays. There are twenty-four spaces in the lot behind the church. There are twelve government spaces adjoining our parking lot behind the church, along the rear of the court complex, which may be used on Sundays during church services. They are numbered on the east, 29 - 34 and on the west, 41 - 46. The spaces numbered 29 through 34 are best for compact cars.

Parking garage (FREE on Sundays) entrance is on 6th Street; the garage stairs are located in the corner that is closest to the rear/ portico entrance of the church. Push the button on the sentry booth to enter and exit.

Metered Spaces (free on Sundays) around our block:
Capitol Avenue — There are twenty metered spaces on Capitol between 6th and 7th.
Monroe Street —There are nine metered spaces plus one disabled parking space.
6TH Street —There are twelve metered spaces on 6th between Capitol and Monroe.
7TH Street — There are fourteen metered spaces, plus one disabled parking space on 7th between Capitol and Monroe.

Passenger drop off space is marked by an orange cone on 7th Street at the red doors.

The Lincoln Home, which is maintained by the National Park Service, is located two blocks southeast of First Presbyterian Church.

Our Location

First Presbyterian Church is located on the corner of East Capitol Avenue and South 7th Street, across from the main city library and two blocks northwest of the Lincoln Home National Historic Site. Our main entrance for Sundays and special events is through two arched red doors on 7th Street. Ramped entrance from the garden on 7th Street.

The church business office is open Monday through Thursday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Direct access to the church office during the week is from the ramp near the Capitol Avenue side.

From the South —

From Interstate I-55, heading north:
1. Take the 6TH ST EXIT 92A-B (Left Exit) and merge directly onto 6TH ST.
2. Proceed 3.9 miles on 6TH ST to CAPITOL AVE. (As a landmark, count four blocks beyond the Cathedral on Lawrence Avenue to Capitol Avenue.)
3. The parking garage entrance is on 6TH — near the end of the block, just before CAPITOL AVE.
4. Or — from 6 TH ST — Turn RIGHT onto CAPITOL AVE.
5. The church parking lot will be immediately on your left .

From the North —

From Interstate I-55, heading south:
1. EXIT 98B onto IL-97 W / CLEAR LAKE AVENUE. (Note — after approximately 1 3/4 miles Clear Lake Ave. becomes Jefferson Street.)
2. Travel a total of 2.2 miles from the exit to 7TH ST.
3. Turn LEFT onto 7TH ST. (As a landmark, this will be just before the skywalk of the yellow marble building of the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum.)
4. Travel 0.2 miles; the church will be on your right, the church parking lot is also on the right — behind the church.

From the East —

From Interstate I-72 heading west:
1. Follow IL 97 WEST / SPRINGFIELD signs and historical sites signs.
2. Continue traveling straight (beyond exit 103A): The road will become IL-97 W / CLEAR LAKE AVENUE.
2. Travel a total of 2.5 miles on CLEARLAKE to 7TH ST. (Note — after approximately 1 3/4 miles Clear Lake Ave. becomes Jefferson Street.)
3. Turn LEFT onto 7TH ST. (As a landmark, this will be just before the skywalk of the yellow marble building of the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum.)

From IL-29 heading north:
1. Turn RIGHT at the first traffic light in Springfield onto S DIRKSEN PKWY / IL-29 N.
2. Travel 0.9 miles to IL-29 N (left jog)
3.Turn LEFT onto IL-29 N / IL-97 W / CLEAR LAKE AVE. (Note — after approximately 1 3/4 miles Clear Lake Ave. becomes Jefferson Street.)
4. Travel a total of 2.2 miles from the exit to 7TH ST.
