Soprano Andrea McFarren Drury is a native of Borger, Texas. This past spring she returned to her native state to sing the role of Mimi in Amarillo Opera's production of La Boheme. This was her second appearance with this company. she was an apprentice artist with them as well as making her mainstage debut as Countess Ceprano in Rigoletto. In 2003 - 2004, she toured a reduced version of La Boheme with both Kentucky Opera and Portland Opera, once again singing the role of Mimi. This year or touring ended with her singing highlights from La Boheme in the Oklahoma Mpzart Festival along with the role of Nella in Gianni Schicchi. Ms. Drury covered and sang the role of Violetta in Opera North's production of La Traviata. She has also attended the Brevard Music Center where she sang the roles of La Ciesca in Gianni Schicchi and Antonia in Les Contes D'Hoffman. She spent a summer in Italy as a participant in the Opera Theatre of Lucca program in Lucca, Italy performing in many concerts including Mozart's Mass in C minor as a soprano soloist. In 2003, she was featured as the soprano soloist for Brahms' German Requiem with the Santa Fe Symphony. This coming spring, she will return to Santa Fe as the soprano soloist for Schubert's Mass in A flat major. Ms. Drury currently resides in Evansville with her husband and teaches private voice.
Thomas Drury hails from Carlinville, Illinois, where he began piano study at the age of five and organ study at the age of ten. In 2001, he received a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Iowa, where he studied piano, organ, and jazz. He then studied piano accompanying at the University of Michigan and was awarded the Master of of Music degree in 2003; following his studies he completed an apprenticeship with the Kentucky Opera in Louisville. Mr. Drury returned to the field of church music in the spring of 2004, accepting the position of Director of Worship and Music Ministries at St. Mark's Lutheran church in Evansville, Indiana. At St. Mark's he functions as a organist, choir director, praise band keyboardist/singer/director, composer, arranger, and worship planner. Mr. Drury also remains active as a freelance accompanist in the Evansville and Louisville areas and plays regularly for the University of Southern Indiana Chamber Choir. His teachers have included George Eckland, Rudolf Zuiderveld, Delbert Disselhorst, and Martin Katz. |
